The GTA modding landscape is shifting faster than it has in a decade. Rockstar owns FiveM now, alt:V is shutting down, GTA 6 is eight months away, and a rumored first-partyβ¦
Our public 90-day plan to reverse the 51% traffic drop: claim the fr-market, recruit creators with a 70% split, and turn the r/FiveM community into a content engine. Here is what we are shipping, the seven KPIs we will track, and the budgets we will and will not spend.
GTA 6's map has been the subject of intense speculation since the first trailer dropped. But does a bigger map actually make a better game? We analyze the leaks, Rockstar's track record, and what really matters for gameplay.

Every GTA release brings one question to the forefront: how big is the map? With GTA 6, that question has reached fever pitch. Leaked coordinates suggest something massive β potentially larger than GTA V, Red Dead Redemption 2, and every prior Rockstar title combined. But does that matter?
Since GTA III, Rockstar has steadily expanded its playable worlds. GTA San Andreas felt enormous in 2004 with three distinct cities. GTA V pushed things further with a detailed recreation of Los Santos and Blaine County. Now, with GTA 6 returning to Vice City and the state of Leonida, expectations are sky-high.
Leaked development footage from 2022 revealed coordinate data that mappers have used to estimate a playable area roughly 1.5 to 2 times the size of GTA V's map. Some projections suggest an area comparable to Red Dead Redemption 2's map, but with urban density that far exceeds anything Rockstar has built before.
The real question is not how many square miles β it is how much meaningful content exists within that space. GTA V's map includes large swaths of mountains and ocean that look impressive but offer little gameplay. Red Dead Redemption 2 took the opposite approach: a smaller-feeling map with extraordinary density, where every cabin tells a story and every trail leads somewhere interesting.
GTA 6 appears to be following the Red Dead model. Leaked footage showed a convenience store with more interior detail than some entire neighborhoods in GTA V. Characters interacted with objects naturally, shelves were stocked with individually modeled products, and NPCs responded to the player's presence with realistic awareness.
The 2022 September leaks, while showing unfinished work, provided concrete evidence of Rockstar's priorities:
The infamous "Vice City Metro" area from the leaks showed a remarkable density of enterable buildings, active street life, and vertical space usage that suggests Rockstar is prioritizing quality over raw size.
For the FiveM community, a denser, more detailed GTA 6 map is far more valuable than a bigger one. Roleplay servers thrive on environmental storytelling. More interiors mean more business locations, more housing options, and more immersive scenarios. A massive empty map serves no one β a richly detailed one serves everyone.
The Project Rome initiative, which brings the Cfx.re team (creators of FiveM) into Rockstar proper, strongly suggests that GTA 6 was designed with modding and roleplay in mind. The density of interiors in the leaked footage may reflect this design philosophy.
Don't obsess over square miles. The best GTA world is not the biggest β it is the one that feels most alive. GTA 6 appears to be aiming for exactly that.
