The best GTA V graphics mod is the one that meets your visual goal while preserving stable frame time on your hardware. Large overhauls can change weather, lighting, textures and vegetation; ReShade presets mainly change the final image. Compare them with the same route, weather, time of day and graphics settings.

Graphics mod types compared
| Type | Wijzigingen | Typical trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Visual overhaul | Weather, lighting, textures, vegetation and effects | Largest install, update and performance risk |
| VisualV-style base enhancement | Weather, colour, lighting and selected effects | More restrained scope, but still modifies game files |
| ReShade preset | Post-processing such as colour, sharpening and ambient effects | Fast to compare; heavy shaders can still reduce FPS |
| Single-purpose pack | Roads, vegetation, clouds or another narrow surface | Easier to isolate, but conflicts are possible when packs overlap |
How to compare NVE, VisualV and presets
NaturalVision Evolved represents a broad overhaul. VisualV is a more focused visual enhancement with public version history. ReShade is a post-processing injector rather than a GTA content pack. These are different approaches, so a screenshot alone is not a fair comparison.
A repeatable benchmark
- Back up the clean GTA V installation and document every changed file.
- Record a baseline with the same resolution, graphics options and background processes.
- Drive the same city-and-countryside route in fixed weather and time.
- Capture average FPS, 1% lows, VRAM use and visible stutter—not average FPS alone.
- Repeat in the exact FiveM server you use; single-player results do not prove FiveM compatibility.
- Test a clean uninstall. If rollback requires guesswork, restore the backup instead.
Compatibility and safety
Never take a client graphics modification into GTA Online. For FiveM, follow the server’s rules and the mod author’s current instructions. Avoid bundled executables from mirrors, keep downloads from the creator’s official channel, and scan files before installation. Do not stack two packs that replace the same weather, timecycle or texture files unless both authors document that combination.
Choose by outcome
- Choose a restrained enhancement when stable FPS and broad compatibility matter most.
- Choose an overhaul when screenshots and cinematic capture justify a larger performance and maintenance budget.
- Choose a light ReShade preset when you mainly need colour and sharpness changes with a simple A/B comparison.
