You can connect to any radio code in your favorite list. There is a volume up/down option on the left side. You can open your own encrypted channel. If that channel is in active use, you cannot open your private channel. If you enter the wrong password when joining a private radio set up by a friend or someone else, it will not connect. You can create a radio channel specific to your professional perm and prevent anyone else from connecting to that perm. For example, a person with a civilian permit cannot enter a police permitted channel.
