Handling Replacement (Library)

Handling Replacement is a library and tool designed for GTA 5 script developers. It provides a non-intrusive way to manage vehicle handling changes. The library clones a vehicle's handling data and assigns the copy to the vehicle, ensuring that changes to the handling data only affect that specific vehicle instance.

This is especially beneficial for scripts that require continuous variation of handling parameters without impacting other instances of the same vehicle model. An example of this is variable drive bias, where the fDriveBiasFront parameter changes constantly.

Installation

1. Ensure you have Grand Theft Auto V (b1868+) installed.
2. Extract the HandlingReplacement.asi file to the main GTA V folder.

Development

Check HandlingReplacement.h on the GitHub repository for the available functions. The ASI loader should handle the loading and initialization, allowing immediate use of the library. An usage example is available on the repository.

Compatibility

• Changes made to the original CHandlingData instance activation on a vehicle will no longer apply to that vehicle.
• Changes made to the CHandlingData from the vehicle instance itself will apply normally and do not propagate to the original CHandlingData instance.
• As with directly changing handling data, other scripts can interfere when multiple scripts are setting the same fields.
• No CHandlingData is provided—use your own.

The following scripts are known to use this library. Please provide information about your script usage if you're using Handling Replacement, to avoid conflicts:

• Manual Transmission - (5.0.0)
  • fDriveBias - constantly written to when variable AWD is enabled
• Real Time Handling Editor - (2.0.1)
  • Everything - depending on setting, original or replaced handling may be edited at any time
